Mora Man Arrested For Shooting At Ex-Girlfriend

GUADALUPITA ― Around 4 p.m., Feb. 26, New Mexico State Police officers responded to State Road 434 in Guadalupita, between Mora and Angel Fire, for a reported assault with a deadly weapon call.
 
The initial investigation determined that Anthony Gabriel Valdez, 28, of Mora, pointed a rifle at his ex-girlfriend while she was in her vehicle. As she drove away from him he fired at least one shot, which struck the back of her vehicle.
 
State Police officers quickly located Valdez who still had the rifle in his possession. Valdez admitted to shooting at the victim. He was arrested by State Police and charged with the following:
  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon;
  • Shooting at or from a Motor Vehicle;
  • Criminal Damage to Property; and
  • Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon.
 
Valdez was booked in the San Miguel County Jail and placed on a no bond hold. No further information is available at this time.
