PEEC News:

Join PEEC, astrophysicist Galen Gisler and Jean Dewart of the Los Alamos Mountaineers for a night hike and potluck dinner 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Participants will meet at the Los Alamos Nature Center in the classroom for the potluck dinner. PEEC will provide water, cups, plates, and utensils. Participants should bring a dish to share.

At about 6:30 p.m., the group will carpool to the Blue Dot Trailhead for a short night hike along the White Rock Canyon Rim Trail to observe the night sky.

The hike will be approximately two miles, round-trip. The group will finish hiking by 8:30 p.m. and return to the Nature Center. Hikers should dress for the weather and wear layers, a hat and gloves. Bring a headlamp or flashlight (red lights are preferred for better star viewing).

Registration is required for this outing. Space is limited to 40 people. Admission is $8 per family or $4 per person for PEEC and Los Alamos Mountaineer members or $10 per family and $5 per person for non-members.
