Missoula Children’s Theater: ‘Aladdin’ Auditions Aug. 7

LAAC News: 

Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) and Missoula Children’s Theatre will hold auditions for “Aladdin” 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 7 at Crossroads Bible Church. Those auditioning should arrive at 9:30 a.m. to register and stay for the full two hours.

Those who are selected for a part need to stay after the auditions for their first rehearsal, which is 12:30-2:30 p.m. There is no cost to audition but there is a $35 fee to participate in the production.

Anyone entering first through 12th grade is invited to audition. Up to 50 children, and maybe more, can participate.

Among the roles to be cast are Aladdin and his mother, Princess Dory and her father, the Sultan, along with his adviser the Grand Vizier and the keeper of the Book of Answers, Dinazade and her sister Scheherazade, the Mysterious One, some mischievous Genies, a stubborn Donkey, a spunky Goat, scheming Cassim, Ali Baba, Sinbad and his sailors, wise-cracking palm trees and fleet-footed camels, a Cave of Wonders, vagabonds and even a pack of lost penguins.

No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. Sign-up for the week’s workshops will take place during auditions.

“Aladdin” will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at Crossroads Bible Church. Tickets are available at the door, starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door, starting at 6:30 p.m. Admission is  $15, or $7 for children ages 12 and younger. For LAAC members, tickets cost $10 or $5 for children ages 12 and younger.
