SANTA ROSA – U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement Wednesday night regarding the situation in Taos:

What happened today in Taos is inexcusable. It should never have happened, and I am appalled at the failure to hold these defendants in detention for their alleged actions. Prosecutors must work diligently to correct this outrage and their failure to do their jobs.

This travesty is one more symptom of a chronically broken judicial system. As Governor, it will be my priority to overhaul and fix this system, so we devote the resources needed to hold criminals accountable and keep our children and communities safe.
