Mesa Library Screens ‘A Fish Called Wanda’ May 2

A Fish Called Wanda (1988, rated R, 1 hr., 48 min.), a comedy and crime film directed by Charles Crichton and John Cleese, will be shown at Mesa Public Library at 6:30 May 2.
 
John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline, and Michael Palin star in this tale of a jewelry heist. Four absurd and diverse characters plan to steal diamonds, and each of them tries to deceive and double cross the others as the plot proceeds.
 
A Fish Called Wanda was number one in box office earnings in 1988 and the top earner as a video release in 1989. The film was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Director (Charles Crichton) and Best Original Screenplay (John Cleese and Charles Crichton), and Kevin Kline won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The film also won two British Academy Film Awards: John Cleese for Best Actor in a Leading Role and Michael Palin for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
