COMMUNITY News:

Los Alamos Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Nereson Family are offering an opportunity to honor Jean Nereson, an elementary school teacher for 50 years in Los Alamos County Public Schools and active AAUW member.

Nereson was respected and loved by her students and she dedicated her 50 plus year career to their education and well-being. To honor her, a memorial fund has been established through the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, which will collect and administer the fund at no cost to the fund. The Foundation is a 529A organization and all donations are tax deductible.

The Nereson Family will match up to $20,000. The money will be given to purchase books for each of the Los Alamos elementary school libraries. We hope the response will allow the fund to purchase books for up to five years. The committee for the memorial consists of Mary Ann Lindahl, Nancy Scheer, Judy Crocker and Nina Thayer.

Checks should be made out to the Los Alamos Schools Foundation with “Jean Nereson Books Memorial” in the memo line and mailed to: Los Alamos Schools Foundation, 1900 Diamond Dr., Suite 1, Los Alamos, NM 87544.

All donations are tax deductible.

AAUW and the Nereson Family deeply appreciate your generosity.
