Meeting About Foster; Adoptive Parenting March 21

CYFD News:

The public is invited to an information meeting at 6 p.m. Friday, March 21 at the Los Alamos LDS Church at 1967 18th St. in Los Alamos to learn about foster and adoptive parenting opportunities with New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.

Currently there are 23 children in Rio Arriba/Los Alamos County in the foster care system. There is an urgent need for more foster parents in these communities. You can qualify to become a foster parent if you are committed to caring for children, single, married or cohabitating, 18 or older, able to pass a criminal background check, willing to attend a free training and participate in the home study process.

CYFD staff will be available at the information meeting to give information and answer questions about how you can become a licensed foster or adoptive parent.

For more information, contact Renee Valerio at 575.758.8871, or renee.valerio@state.nm.us. For general foster/adoptive parenting information 24 hours a day, seven days a week, call CYFD toll-free at 1.800.432.2075 or visit www.cyfd.org.
