I am William (Bill) Hargraves, a candidate for the Los Alamos School Board from the Aspen District. The election is Feb. 3. Take a few minutes during that day to vote – I encourage you.
First, an introduction – I have two daughters now in Los Alamos High School, a senior and a sophomore. They started kindergarten at Mountain Elementary, moved to Aspen Elementary when school district lines were redrawn, then Los Alamos Middle School, now the high school. My daughters have participated in several school and community activities including choir, band, track, volleyball, theater, dance and various clubs. I am past president of the Choir Booster Club, currently on the board of Fusion Volleyball Club, and have volunteered for various school activities over the years. I am retired from the Laboratory.
My decision to run for the school board is driven by an interest to share with the community my time and experiences gained from the years my daughters attended our schools. I know my experiences are not unique so trust that many in our community will understand.
This column in the Los Alamos Daily Post serves as introduction. And, more importantly, in upcoming columns will spotlight topics of interest to me and offer my thoughts and position as a candidate for School Board. Dialogue – sharing information and ideas – is important. I want to hear your thoughts about the topics I present or others you choose.
