ART News:

This year’s Los Alamos Artists Studio Tour is Oct. 11-12 and the Los Alamos Daily Post is featuring a “Get to Know Your Artist” series leading up to the annual event.

Each of the 16 artists participating in the tour will be showcased prior to the beginning of the tour to allow our readers an opportunity to learn about them and their work.

Meet Los Alamos artist Becky Nystrom:

My artwork is stippled, created with dots using Prismacolor markers. The large originals are scanned, then copies are made producing a more saturated and permanent color for the final product.

My work is inspired and instructed by nature as well as by ideas I want to express with the wordlessness of image.

Sometimes I weave my poetry into the picture. My hope is to offer through the artwork glimpses of the inexpressible. While I begin a piece with an image in mind, I find that as I work the picture takes on a life of its own. It takes courage to approach a blank page, but the process is always an adventure.
