ART News:

This Friday evening Rose Chocolatier hosts a show featuring the water color work of Los Alamos artist Elena Yang.

Yang is a self-taught watercolor painter. Her interest in art was developed at a young age and continues even through completing her PhD in social sciences after immigrating to the USA.

Her background in Chinese calligraphy along with painting classes, writing, cooking, photography and gardening have added to her skills as a painter, she said. Her watercolors are mainly of flowers and landscapes and lately she is exploring fusing the two topics.

Yang will have a variety of her latest works on display until mid September at Rose Chocolatier, 991 Central Ave.

The shop will host a reception with the artist on hand to talk about her work 5-7 p.m., Friday. This event coincides with an artist reception at Fuller Lodge Art Center at the same time for the opening of “Conversations in Clay”.
