Continuing a tradition of voter education that began in 1920, the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos has scheduled two nonpartisan candidate forums, both of which will be held in the Lecture Room in Building 2 of UNM-Los Alamos.
The first is 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. The public is invited to arrive at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and to meet the candidates:
Dist. 43 House of Representatives:
- Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard (D); and
- Sharon Stover (R).
District Attorney in First Judicial District:
- Yvonne M. Chicoine (R); and
- Marco Peter Serna (D).
- Abraham Dispennette (R); and
- Anne Nobile (I).
In addition, Robert Gibson and John Horne will discuss the proposed County Charter amendment.
The AAUW is funding the taping of the forum by PAC-8 for later viewing.
The second forum is one week later at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13:
U.S. House of Representatives:
- Rep. Ben R. Lujan (D); and
- Michael H. Romero (R).
- Steven P. Girrens (R);
- Peter T. Sheehey (D);
- Chris Chandler (D);
- Patrick Monroe Brenner (R);

Members of the Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers will assist in running the forums.
