Lunchtime County Council Meeting Underway

Community & Economic Development Director Anne Laurent and Public Works Director Philo Shelton are presenting an update to Council on Capital Improvement Projects. Council David Izraelevitz gave kudos to Laurent, Shelton and other County staff involved in the many projects that have come in on time or ahead of time and on budget or below budget. He is asking about the one project that has been delayed a bit, which is the Golf Course project. Laurent said they are working through the issues. She added that projects with a Design Build concept can be advantageous in that a third party keeps an objective eye on progress. Councilor Pete Sheehey told Laurent and Shelton that most feedback on the Ashley Pond Renovation Project has been favorable, however, some community members have asked for more lighting along the walkway around the pond. Laurent explained that the lighting issue was well vetted during public meetings on the project and the lighting also is in line with Dark Sky concerns. Photo by Carol A. Clark/ladailypost.com
