Los Alamos Chief of Police Wayne Torpy will be the speaker at the upcoming League of Women Voters monthly Lunch with a Leader meeting.
The public is invited to attend Torpy’s talk, set for 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center, 3540 Orange St. (small building across from the back of the high school.)
Torpy was hired as police chief in Los Alamos in 2005. He serves on the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board and the boards of the Family YMCA and Leadership Los Alamos.
He holds a BA in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College, a MS from Nova Southeastern University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.
Ruby K’s is catering the Aug. 9 luncheon. RSVP sandwich or salad preferences, which include chips, pickles and cookies – water will be provided, to Karyl Ann Armbruster at kaskacayman@gmail.com or call 661-6605.
The cost for lunch is $12 and includes tax and gratuity. There will be no food available for orders not received in advance; however, community members are welcome to attend and can also bring their own lunch.
