From the Office of U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján:

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District released the following statement today on the upcoming 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

“Fifteen years ago, Americans were united in heartbreak as our nation witnessed the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. As we mourned this tragedy, Americans remained steadfast in their strength, resolve, and heroism. In mere minutes, we saw the worst of humanity; but in the days, weeks, and months that followed, we saw the courage, perseverance, and compassion that defines us as one nation.  We saw that we stand strongest when we stand together.

“Let us continue to honor those affected by this tragedy. We remember the friends, family members, and first responders who were injured, killed, and became sick.  Let us also pay tribute to the men and women of our armed forces who answered the call to serve our country in the wake of these heinous attacks, and those who serve our nation today. The sacrifice and service of all those who put themselves in harm’s way in the immediate aftermath of these attacks and in the years that followed is a testament to the enduring spirit of the American people.”
