WASHINGTON, D.C. ― Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District released the following statement Monday on Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, which is celebrated in May.
“The Asian American and Pacific Islander community has been an integral part of our nation for generations. The many diverse members of this community have truly embodied the spirit of the American Dream, working hard to pursue their passions and build better lives for themselves and their family.
“Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made innumerable contributions in all aspects of society, from arts and culture to science and business. They are valued members of our communities, teachers in our schools, servicemen and women in our armed forces, and entrepreneurs in our economy. This month, I am proud to recognize and celebrate the many accomplishments of the Asian Pacific American community, and reflect on how the community contributes to the great diversity that is the strength of our nation.”
