Democratic candidate for Lt. Gov. Rick Miera stopped by the Los Alamos Daily Post Thursday afternoon to discuss his campaign and is shown here with Lifestyles Editor Bonnie Gordon. Miera is a licensed therapist who holds a degree in business. He said public education is under threat of being privatized, adding that he served as chair of the House Education Committee, 1996 to 2014, which gives him the historical perspective, knowledge and leadership skills to help preserve and protect public education. In discussing Los Alamos, Miera said, ‘When I drove into Los Alamos I thought about this city of discovery and how you all have a lot to offer the rest of the state … you’re big enough to understand the big problems yet small enough to understand how to work together to solve problems … you are a city of collaboration and cooperation and you can be the model for the rest of the state of New Mexico…’ Photo by Carol A.
