Los Alamos Youth Film Festival Tuesday Oct. 3 At SALA

YMCA News:

The YMCA Los Alamos Teen Center, in collaboration with PAC8, the Los Alamos Youth Activity Center, the Los Alamos Arts Council, and Film Prize Jr New Mexico, is proud to present the first ever Los Alamos Youth Film Festival.

From 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3, films will be screened at the SALA Event Center in Los Alamos. This festival celebrates and elevates the achievements made in the last 3 years by young filmmakers in Los Alamos. Screenings will include both the award winning short “Eggshell” and the award winning documentary “Sister of the Circle”. Also to be screened will be local cult classic “John Astronaut In Space”.

This event is FREE and open to the public!

Join family, friends, and local community leaders in honoring the creative efforts of some of our finest young minds and learn how you can support further such endeavors both in the local community and at the statewide level.

There has never been a more exciting time for the film industry in New Mexico, and things are equally exciting in the world of youth filmmakers. Since 2021, Film Prize Jr NM (https://www.filmprizenm.com/) has been supporting NM youth to create short films and explore their creativity. Youth from Los Alamos have won prizes in both the 2022 and 2023 statewide film contests.

Please note, seating is limited for these viewings, and will be provided on a first come first serve basis, so come early to secure your spot! Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The YMCA Los Alamos Teen Center is a program of The Family YMCA, a 501c3 organization that has been serving Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico since 1955.
