The Los Alamos Xtreme Division Three (D3) football team won the Northern New Mexico Children’s Football League championship game Saturday, Oct. 31.

Los Alamos Xtreme D3 (9-10 year olds) won 8-7 against the Capital Jaguars in the Zia Bowl Championship game hosted at Capital High School in Santa Fe. A safety and a strong defensive line proved to be the difference in the game. Los Alamos’ D4 team (11-13 year olds) also played in the Zia Bowl, placing 4th.

Head Coach Tim Locke and assistant coaches Justin Jones and Johnny Smallwood led D3 to a perfect season, remaining undefeated for the entire 2015 season, 10-0. D3 scored an astounding 279 points during the 10 games, with only 25 points made by the opposing teams!

Xtreme D3 advances to the annual High Desert Youth Football State Championships. This year’s tournament will include some of the top youth football organizations in the United States. The tournament will be hosted by the New Mexico Young America Football League (N.M.Y.A.F.L.).
