LASRC News:

Fall is here and the time to get ready for the upcoming ski season is upon us. The annual Los Alamos Ski Swap, hosted by the Los Alamos Ski Racing Club is Saturday, Oct. 15.

The ski swap is a decades-long tradition of Los Alamos. It’s unclear exactly what year the first swap was held, but many an “experienced” skier will tell you it’s been going on for at least 30 years.

The swap is free to the public, and is the primary fundraiser for LASRC, a 501c3 non-profit corporation that operates locally on Pajarito Mountain. LASRC provides ski and race training to Los Alamos children of all ages. Several tiers of training are available via three coaches, from teaching kids to be better skiers, to intense Rocky Mountain Division – Southern Series race training.

The swap takes place at Los Alamos Middle School, and has three time windows:

  • Drop Off Saturday Oct. 15: 8-11 a.m. The public can drop off ski-related items (boots, skis, poles and winter clothing) they wish to sell at the south side of the LAMS campus where they are tagged and owner-priced.
  • Swap Oct. 15: 1-4 p.m. The public is welcome to shop all the public items dropped off, as well as thousands of items from our partner vendors.
  • Pick Up Sunday Oct. 16: 1-3 p.m. Come back to LAMS to get your check for sold items, or pickup your unsold items.
