Los Alamos Senior Olympics Begins Today

It is not too late to register for the Los Alamos Senior Olympic Games. Registrations will be accepted at The Los Alamos Family YMCA one day in advance of each event.

The games start today. Fees, which include a t-shirt and ticket to the Celebration of Athletes luncheon, are $25. All participating local athletes qualify for the state games in their events.

State games are June 3-6 in Roswell. Competitors do not have to reside in Los Alamos County to participate, but do need to register in their home county in addition to Los Alamos. Athletes need to be 50 years old by Dec. 31. Competition in Basketball Free Throw and three-point shot starts at 1:30 p.m. today, followed by Frisbee Accuracy.

Seventeen sports are offered, from the traditional track and field, swimming and road race to dance, disc golf, bowling, air gun, huachas, eight-ball pool, race walk, pickleball, shuffleboad, talent and table tennis.
