SCIENCEFEST News:

Each year, thousands flock to Los Alamos for the three-time award-winning ScienceFest, which celebrates New Mexico’s past and present contributions to science and fosters science curiosity for future generations.

This year’s event is sponsored by New Mexico Magazine and runs July 11-15 with a “Science Rules in Los Alamos” theme.

Discovery Day, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at Ashley Pond Park, is a day-long celebration of all things science. Attendees can enjoy hands-on science activities, fun events for the entire family, a beer garden, live music and more.

To register for booth space to exhibit a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Math (STEAM) related demo, visit: https://www.losalamossciencefestival.com/get-involved.

Registration is free until May 31.

This year, ScienceFest is also offering a free Impact Training seminar geared for subject matter experts in any STEAM field who would like to develop their skills in speaking and working with the public. Those who complete the four-hour Impact Training Friday, May 18 at projectY cowork Los Alamos, receive a free booth, tent, table and chairs during Discovery Day.

For more information about Impact Training, visit the projectY blog or contact lauren@losalamos.org to register. The ScienceFest Discovery Day Impact Training is generously sponsored by Del Norte Credit Union.

During this year’s Discovery Day, participants can hear from Mathamuseum about the fun side of math, attend an Electric Vehicle Show at the Nature Center, have a chance to roll the ‘Genetic Dice’ and witness insect mutations, get a glance at humanity’s impact on Earth inside a GLOWpod, be inspired by biological organisms in the Life Arts Lab, grab a Prebiotic Lollipop, learn about gut health and nutritional analysis from the folks at Viome, check out UbiQD’s glowing quantum dots, and much more!
