ROTARY News:

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos has announced that it is looking to fund, up to $500 each, service projects in Los Alamos and around northern New Mexico.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 20. The application form can be found on the Rotary Club’s website at rotarylosalamos.com/grant-application.

All projects will be considered, but particular attention will be given to projects that fall into one of Rotary’s six areas of focus:

  1. Maternal & child health;
  2. Basic education & literacy;
  3. Economic & community development;
  4. Peace & conflict resolution/prevention;
  5. Disease prevention & treatment; and
  6. Water & sanitation.

Besides funding, organizations also will be able to specify whether there are opportunities for members of the Rotary Club to volunteer their time to assist with the project or initiative.

Up to six organizations will be invited to the Club’s meeting noon to 1 p.m., Nov. 13 to give a short presentation about how the funds would be used. Winners of the grants will be announced and awards presented at the Rotary Club meeting Tuesday, Nov. 27, which also is Giving Tuesday.

Last year, the Rotary Club of Los Alamos including Rotary STARS, vetted numerous applications from local organizations and ultimately awarded $4,000 in grants.

To apply, organizations in Los Alamos and northern New Mexico should visit rotarylosalamos.com/grant-application and submit the application form online. Alternatively they may download the form, fill it out, and return it by email to grants@rotarylosalamos.com.
