Los Alamos Public Schools

To everyone in the Los Alamos Public Schools,

LAPS is already into the 8th week of school. Based upon conversations with students, staff, and parents, we are off to a great school year. Yeah!

Your hard work and dedication to students is noted and greatly appreciated.

Now to the topic of Roseburg, Ore. Many in the district feel a special connection to the people of Roseburg because Gerry and Audrey Washburn recently moved to that community. For those new to LAPS, Gerry and Audrey are long-term staff members in the Los Alamos Public Schools. Most recently, Gerry was Assistant Superintendent and Audrey served as LAPS Coordinator of Transportation.

In order to extend open arms of caring and support, we are in the process of preparing a care package to send to community members in Roseburg. If you would like to contribute a card, poem, or other nonperishable item, please send to the Superintendent’s Office by Friday, Oct. 16. With thoughtfulness, we will write a sincere cover letter and mail one package from Los Alamos to Roseburg.

I will work with faculty and staff from UNM-LA to also contribute to the care package. Teachers, please feel free to use this as a classroom activity, as appropriate.
