Los Alamos Public Schools Audit Earns High Marks

LAPS News:

Recently, A.J. Bowers of RPC CPAs + Consultants, LLP presented audit results to the Los Alamos School Board. The opinion rendered was Unmodified, which is the highest level possible.

An Unmodified opinion is issued when an auditor determines that each of the financial records provided by the entity is free of any material misrepresentations. In addition, an Unmodified opinion indicates that the financial records have been maintained in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

Bowers was effusive in his praise for the LAPS team in their responsiveness as well as the “exceptional” work that was put forward to achieve the progress made since the previous audit. Not only was the audit outcome excellent but the audit was finalized earlier than ever before and submitted to the State Auditor’s office Oct. 21.

This year’s audit included four findings, none of which were material. A Material Finding means the District could be “at risk for a material misstatement”.
