LAPSA News:

Los Alamos Public Safety Association (LAPSA) is proud to announce a major fund-raising effort this year for the LAPSA Scholarship Fund.

This year, LAPSA is teaming up with the Los Alamos Sportsmen’s Club (LASC) to sponsor a handgun shooting match Saturday, June 29 or if the weather is bad, Sunday, June 30 at the LASC’s facilities in Los Alamos.

The match is designed to be both a fun and challenging event, so even if people have never formally competed with a handgun, they will be able to experience the rush of such competition.

This will be an all day event, and a working lunch with a variety of pizza will be served.

Participants are required to provide their own handgun, ammunition, safety glasses and hearing protection.

The match fee is $50 which is 100 percent  tax-deductible since LAPSA is an IRS-approved 501(c)3 charitable organization.

Anyone interested in signing up can find the registration form online here.

The registration form also contains more information about the match, equipment requirements, etc. After registering, participants will be provided a link for payment of the match fee.

It is anticipated that this match will generate a lot of interest, so registrations will be on a first-come, first served basis and are limited to the first 50 participants.

LAPSA’s purpose is to create a forum for senior managers who are actively involved in public safety-related positions within the Los Alamos Region to meet, discuss areas of mutual interest, recognize accomplishments in the public safety arena, and consider such actions as may be in the mutual interest of the group to improve and coordinate public safety activities.

LAPSA also supports students attending the University of New Mexico Los Alamos campus via the grant of scholarship funds to students majoring in applicable areas such as fire science, law enforcement, security, medicine, and others related to the overall mission of public safety.
