COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos Public Library will host two special events this weekend: an author talk by National Book Award winner Jason De León from 2–4 p.m., Saturday at Fuller Lodge, and the second annual White Rock jigsaw puzzle exchange and competition from 2–4:30 p.m., Sunday at the White Rock Branch Library.

“We are excited to continue expanding our public programming lineup for adults with rich and varied presentations and activities,” Senior Librarian Eva Jacobson said. She said both weekend events build on last year’s successful celebrations for the White Rock Branch Library’s 10th anniversary, when community members showed strong interest in an event featuring a nationally recognized author, Hampton Sides, and the inaugural library puzzle competition.

Saturday’s author talk features Jason De León, a nationally renowned speaker who will discuss his award-winning book, Soldiers and Kings. A limited number of seats remain, and the library encourages attendees to reserve a spot in advance.

Sunday’s jigsaw puzzle event includes a puzzle exchange and a beginner-friendly competition designed for community members who may have been curious but hesitant to join previous contests. The drop-in competition is open to all ages. Community members who want to take part in the puzzle exchange are encouraged to bring puzzles to either the White Rock Branch Library or Mesa Public Library ahead of the event, though the library will also accept puzzle entries on the day of the exchange.

For more information about either event, call the library at 505.662.8250 or visit the library event calendar.
