Los Alamos County Police Chief Dino Sgambellone released the 2026 second-quarter National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) statistics, recording 105 Group A Offenses in the first half of the year compared to 95 during the same period in 2025.
Theft, fraud, and simple assault continue to account for 75% of all reports.

- Prevent AI Cloning: Establish a family code word to verify the identity of loved ones during suspicious calls.
- Verify Contacts: Never use phone numbers provided by unsolicited callers. Hang up and dial the official number found on a trusted website or the back of your bank card.
- Secure Accounts: Protect your digital data by using strong passwords and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Avoid Simple Assault: Avoid volatile situations entirely when practical. If not, utilize active bystander intervention, practice de-escalation techniques, and establish clear boundaries.
