Los Alamos police have charged Steven C. Porter of White Rock with more than a dozen criminal counts including possession of a controlled substance, trafficking of a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance.

Porter, 46, is a Pajarito Acres homeowner who was handcuffed and removed from the annual meeting of the Pajarito Acres Home Owners Association Sunday evening at the White Rock Baptist Church on N.M. 4.

PAHOA President Eldon Linnebur told the Los Alamos Daily Post at the scene Sunday evening that more than 100 people representing more than 50 lots attended the meeting in the church conference room. Porter was sitting at the back of the room and there were at least two detectives dressed in plain clothes sitting in the room. Linnebur was speaking at the podium when the rear door suddenly opened and several officers entered, surrounded Porter and escorted him from the room.

Los Alamos Police Commander Jason Wardlow Herrera told the Los Alamos Daily Post this evening that a search warrant was executed on Porter’s residence at 235 Rio Bravo as well as his mother’s residence on the same property. A search warrant also was executed for Porter’s DNA and fingerprints.

Porter will be arraigned Tuesday morning in Magistrate Court at the Los Alamos Justice Center, Wardlow Herrera said, adding that Porter remains incarcerated in the Los Alamos County Jail.
