Los Alamos Police Charge Santa Fe Man With 38 Counts Relating to 18 Auto Burglaries

Today the Los Alamos Police Department officially charged Skylar B. Smith a 22-year-old male from Santa Fe with 38 separate counts relating to 18 auto burglaries that occurred in May.

Smith has been in the Los Alamos Detention Center since May 27 stemming from a probation violation. 

Los Alamos Police Detectives have been actively investigating the auto burglaries from May and now Smith is being charged with two counts of theft of credit card, 20 counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, and 16 counts of larceny.

Smith is being held in the Los Alamos Jail without bond.

Smith was previously charged with two counts of theft of credit card, 10 counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, and five counts of larceny from crimes that occurred in 2012 in Los Alamos County. Smith could be facing nine years in prison just for violating his probation.
