Los Alamos Police Blotter: Aug. 16 to Aug. 22, 2012

The following information is provided by the Los Alamos Police Department.

Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of the charges filed against them.

Aug. 16 at 7:45 a.m. / Los Alamos Public Schools reported that someone damaged school property with graffiti at Los Alamos High School. The estimated loss is less than $1,000.

Aug. 17 at 2:54 p.m. / Police received a report of someone shoplifting from a business in the 500 block of Central Avenue. The estimated loss is more than $250. The matter is under investigation.

Aug. 17 at 8:18 a.m. / Police received a report of a larceny in the 2000 block of Peach Street. The estimated loss is more than $500. The matter is under investigation.

Aug. 17 at 10:15 a.m. / Police responded to an unattended death believed to be from natural causes in the 2000 block of Walnut Street.

Aug. 17 at 1:56 p.m. / A 54-year-old Los Alamos man reported that he was the victim of fraud on Trinity Drive. The estimated loss is $12,800. The matter is under investigation.

Aug. 18 at 9:50 a.m. / A 53-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that while riding her bicycle on N.M. 4, she was the victim of a hit and run accident.

KYLE SMITH

Aug. 18 at 10:50 a.m. / Police arrested Kyle Smith, 22, of Los Alamos on East Jemez Road and charged him with hit and run, duty to give information and render aid, failure to maintain his lane, reckless driving and overtaking another vehicle on the left.

Aug. 18 at 10:57 a.m. / A 68-year-old Los Alamos woman reported a burglary from a home in the 300 block of Cheryl Avenue. The matter is under investigation.

Aug. 18 at 5:36 p.m. / A 28-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that someone battered her and damaged her property in the 500 block of Oppenheimer Drive. The estimated damage is unknown.

BLAKE MOLZ

Aug. 18 at 5:55 p.m. / Police arrested Blake Molz, 29, of Los Alamos on Oppenheimer Drive and charged him with battery against a household member and criminal damage to property. The estimated damage is unknown.

Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. / Police arrested a 16-year-old Los Alamos boy in the 1300 block of Diamond Drive and charged him with graffiti damage to property at Los Alamos High School. He was referred to the juvenile probation officer. 

JUSTIN SALAZAR

Aug. 21 at 1:43 p.m. / Police arrested Justin Salazar, 22, of Ohkay Owingah Pueblo in the 3300 block of Canyon Road and charged him with DWI, failure to maintain his lane and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Aug. 22 at 4:37 p.m. / Los Alamos National Laboratory reported a larceny in the 100 block of Pedernal Street. The estimated loss is less than $500.
