Los Alamos NJRTOC Takes State Banners

Los Alamos High School NJROTC Cadets competed at the New Mexico State JROTC championships on Friday and Saturday. The rifle teams competed at West Mesa on the state electronic target system. The Los Alamos Precision team finished first for the state championship and the sporter team finished third.

Precision  individual placings were prone position, Holly Hayes gold, JoAnna O’Neill bronze, standing Samantha Miller silver, Holly Hayes bronze, kneeling Samantha Miller gold, and first place overall was Samantha Miller.

Sporter team individual was Victor Kim with gold in both kneeling and the overall.

The drill portion of the meet was held on Saturday at Cibola High School.

Los Alamos also brought home the state banner for the fitness teams, finishing with an overall first place.

Individual fitness awards were individual situps silver to Jacob Thompson, individual run gold to Victor Kim, as well as silver for overall. For females, Dolores  Archuletta took silver for sit-ups. The male fitness team took the first place trophy overall for males and the combined scores for both teams earning the state banner.

The drill teams placed 2nd in armed inspection, 2nd in unarmed inspection and 2nd in unarmed regulation and earned overall second in the state. This marks another milestone as the first time the unit has earned state banners in two categories. Well done to our cadets.
