COURT News:

 

Christian Chavez appeared before Municipal Judge Alan Kirk Aug. 3 on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and open container. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to a $100 fine for the paraphernalia charge, $75 for the marijuana charge and $100 for the open container charge plus court fees for all three charges.

Jerome Montoya was pleaded guilty to driving with no license and was fined $100 plus $65 in fees. He pleaded not guilty to a second charge of prohibited acts while driving.

Javier Duarte-Medrano pleaded guilty to battery. He received a 90-days suspended sentence and 90 days of unsupervised probation. He was also ordered to perform 25 hours of community service within 45 days and $60 in fees.

Jason Larranaga pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and received a suspended sentence of nine months, six months of supervised probation followed by three months of unsupervised probation. He also pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was fined $100.

Hunter Gustafson pleaded guilty to possession of paraphernalia. He received a 90 days suspended sentence and was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service within 45 days.

Daniel Archuleta pleaded guilty to second offense driving under the influence and mandatory financial responsibility. He was sentenced to 179 days in jail with 174 days suspended, plus a $750 fine, 48 hours of community service and $250 in fees for the DUI charge and $100 plus $65 in fees for the financial responsibility charge. He was placed on probation for one year.

Shibli Fazal appeared before Judge Kirk Aug. 14 on two citations for having a menacing dog and one charge of failing to appear. Fazal pleaded not guilty on the failure to appear charge and will be scheduled for trial. He pleaded guilty on the two menacing dog charges and was fined $50 plus $60 in fees and $25 on the dog being loose with $60 in fees.
