Los Alamos Middle School Athletic Director Doug Weiss has been selected as the 2026 Northeast Region Athletic Director of the Year.

He was presented the award by the New Mexico Athletic Directors Association (NMADA) during its summer conference held in Albuquerque.

Each year the membership nominates members from their region for awards. An awards committee votes for recipients from each region.

Weiss was nominated by his peers and selected by the NMADA awards committee as the Northeast Region AD of the year for his service to students, his school and the NMADA.

Weiss serves the NMADA as part of the statewide Leadership Training Institute Faculty.

“It’s an honor to have been recognized this year,” Weiss said. “I appreciate all the support and collaboration I receive from the admin, school staff, coaches, parents and athletes.”

“Doug’s tireless commitment to LAMS athletics and his unwavering dedication to LAPS student-athletes are invaluable to the department,” LAPS Athletic Director Guy Meyer said. “This is an especially meaningful award because it comes directly from our colleagues in the NMADA. Congrats Doug, you deserve it!”

In addition to being the LAMS Athletic Director, Weiss serves as the LAPS Assistant Athletic Director.
