MainStreet News:
As you’ve become accustomed to, Fall in Los Alamos is always filled with fun!
This year’s Day of Arts and Culture, Oct. 5, includes some events that are old favorites as well as some new activities that are sure to please. Designed to kick off October’s National Month of Arts and Humanities, this local Day of Arts and Culture begins at 10:30 a.m. with a series of dance and musical performances as well as a ribbon-cutting to dedicate the new mural just outside L.A. Cantina. The mural artist, Andrew Fearnside, will be on hand to deliver opening remarks. Light refreshments will be served.
Concurrently, the Los Alamos Arts Council is holding its annual Fall Arts and Craft Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Park Square. The location has changed for this year, but the essence of the Fair remains the same. “Come discover amazing finds for yourself or as gifts as this holiday season approaches.”
The days activities conclude with an Evening of Stand-Up & Improv presented by AtomiComedy at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) at the Los Alamos Little Theater. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at lalt.org.
Later in October, the opening event to Los Alamos Halloweekend is the annual Trick-or-Treat on MainStreet. Thousands of people come out dressed in their Halloween costumes to trick-or-treat at more than 75 businesses. This year features many performances from dance groups and bands and several food trucks. Local businesses can register for free at LosAlamosMainStreet.com.
For more local activities from MainStreet’s community partners during the month of October, keep an eye out for events posted to the website and Facebook pages through Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District.
