Los Alamos Lightning U13 Girls Soccer Team Plays To Draw

By Los Alamos Football Club Coaching Staff

The third week of action in the Duke City Soccer League found the girls Under-13 LAFC Lightning playing the Elite FC Crush to a tightly contested 1-1 draw.

A highly competitive, back-and-forth game saw the Lightning tie it up mid-way through the second half after a beautiful run from midfielder Hannah Gram resulted in a cross to Sage Wilcox who buried it in the back of the net from six yards out. Hanna Gartz was a game changer at the striker position, giving the Lightning numerous great runs with a couple of shots on goal.

The defense was solid all game with Aliya Richins anchoring the middle and Megan Cummins constantly changing field with great play from the right back position. Annika Fox was solid in goal, saving nearly 10 shots and giving the team many chances to pull out the win.

The U14 co-ed LAFC Celtics played a close match with Boys U14 AYSO Titans. Several shot attempts and opportunities were created, but the Celtics could not find the back of the net.  Trystan Osburn, Kaya Krantz, and Charles Hill matched the Titans speed to prevent all the direct attacks from the Titans.

A Celtics defensive miscue resulted in a goal and giving the Celtics a 1-0 loss, the first of their season. The Titans coach complimented the Celtics midfield possession and skill at the end of the game, which was anchored by Isaac Ronning, Izzy Hodges, and Marie Lee.

The U12 Boys LAFC Galaxy team lost a close to the top-ranked team in the Challenge bracket – the AYSO FC Venom – 2 to 1.  The U11 Boys LAFC Green Pumas played tough defensively but couldn’t find the back of the next losing 2-0 to the Classic FC Aztecas.

The U16 LAFC Atomic City United suffered their first defeat of the season, a nail-biter 4-3 to the Elite Asylum. Danny Castano opened the scoring to give ACU a 1-0 lead. After falling behind 2-1, Castano scored again on a corner kick from Christopher Blue to even the game at 2-2. After another Asylum score, Alex Bullock scored for ACU to tie the game at 3. Unfortunately, a late Asylum goal gave them the win.
