LALO News:
Los Alamos Light Opera (LALO) will present ‘Matilda’ in February 2023 and is seeking singers, actors and dancers of all ages.
Auditions will be held 1-4 p.m. today, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23 at the United Church.
Adults/teens: Prepare about 16 bars of a song that shows vocal range with READABLE sheet music.
Kids (8+): The music director will select a portion of music from the show for kids to learn and sing.
Younger children: The opening number is a great opportunity for younger children to have some stage time with minimal time commitment.
Auditions will consist of singing, reading from the script and dancing.
Auditioners should arrive at 1 p.m. for singing and acting. Those ONLY interested in dancing, arrive at 3 p.m. instead.
If needed, callbacks will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24.
Rehearsals begin in November. Vocal rehearsals will meet more often at first so that the chorus has plenty of time to learn harmonies.
Dance numbers will include Latin ballroom, contemporary, hip-hop, ballet and Broadway/jazz. Dancers may opt for any/all styles they are comfortable performing. In addition to rehearsals, dance numbers will be recorded and made available for extra practice.
NOTE: Intermediate/advanced dancers participating in December performances through the local dance studios will NOT be required to attend dance rehearsals until after their December shows with endorsement from their dance instructor (but are of course welcome to).
The public may contact the director (wendykcaldwell@gmail.com) to schedule an alternative time to audition. Visit Auditions for Matild.
