Los Alamos Lacrosse Play For State Saturday

SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos high school boy’s lacrosse team will play for the state championship title Saturday.

The Toppers will take on the Duke City Scorpions in the finals at 11 a.m., at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque.

Third-seeded Los Alamos upset the second-seeded Coronado (El Paso) Thunderbirds 4-2 on Saturday to win a spot in the championship game. Los Alamos had goals from seniors Charlie Christensen, Max Sylvester, and Griffin Matuszak, and sophomore Peter Janke.

Los Alamos last played the Scorpions April 8 and they lost that contest 19-5. Los Alamos ended the season at 9-3 overall.

“We have a great group of players,” Coach James Miller said. “The seniors are really at the heart of the program, which started six years ago. They have a chance to do something special this weekend if we play up to our potential.”
