The Los Alamos Kiwanis Club has established a forest fire relief fund to assist those affected by the massive New Mexico wildfires.

This is in response to a challenge from President Stephanie Whittecar of the Kiwanis Club of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Her organization announced that they would be donating $1,000 to the Las Vegas Sunrise Kiwanis Club and has challenged all clubs in the Southwest District to meet or exceed their donation.

The Los Alamos club has collected more than $3,000 in donations, which will be sent to the Kiwanis clubs of Las Vegas, N.M., which are coordinating their distribution.
