Los Alamos High School NJROTC marksmanship team members have made the top five precision list of Navy teams and qualified to compete at the All-Service JROTC National Championship air rifle competition March 20 at Camp Perry, Ohio.

Team members Tessa Snyder (captain), Noah Marriott, David Murphy, JoAnna O’Neill and Sam Wolfe (alternate), earned their spot when they traveled to Albuquerque earlier this month to compete in the Navy JROTC Regional Championships held at the New Mexico Expo where they finished second.

They completed the Navy competition ranked fourth nationally. Sporter class shooter Nikita Belooussov also competed for LAHS.

LAHS sophomore JoAnna O’Neill was the highest scoring shooter from New Mexico at the regional championships and received a special trophy.

Marksmanship coach LCDR Wes Shumaker congratulated the shooters on their outstanding results.

“It takes a considerable amount of hard work and dedication to succeed at this top level,” Shumaker said.
