Los Alamos High School Alumna Releases Collection Of Stories: ‘Souvenirs From Another Life’

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Souvenirs from Another Life, the first full-length collection of stories by Los Alamos High School (LAHS) alumna Leah Browning, was published by Quiet Ocean Studio & Press in February 2026. It is now available in paperback, as an e-book, and as an unabridged audiobook narrated by Mallory Fuccella. 
Browning is also the author of Two Good Ears and Loud Snow, a pair of flash fiction mini-books published by Silent Station Press; When the Sun Comes Out After Three Days of Rain, a collection of poetry published by Kelsay Books; three short nonfiction books for teens and pre-teens, all released by educational publisher Capstone Press; and six chapbooks of poetry and fiction.

In addition to writing, Browning edits the Apple Valley Review, an online literary journal established in 2005. The journal is published twice annually and features short fiction, personal essays, poetry, and translations. 
 
Browning was born and raised in New Mexico. Souvenirs from Another Life is dedicated to one of her high school English teachers, Santa Fe resident Jeffrey Laing. During her time at LAHS, Browning received second prize in Seventeen Magazine’s annual fiction contest and an achievement award in writing from the National Council of Teachers of English. Her stories and poetry were published in the Los Alamos Monitor, the Southwest High School Creative Writing Awards, and the New Mexico English Journal. As an adult, her work has appeared in the Los Alamos MonitorMothering Magazine, and albuquerqueARTS Magazine
