Los Alamos Golf Course Superintendent Matt Allen has earned the CGCS credential as a Certified Golf Course Superintendent by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
To achieve this certification designation, superintendents must qualify as an applicant by satisfying specific education and experience requirements. They must then successfully complete a portfolio, plus a rigorous six hour examination and submit to a peer evaluation of the golf course facility.
Los Alamos golf course is fortunate to have one of only 1,500 Certified Golf Course Superintendents in the nation. Attaining this certification demonstrates Allen’s desire for personal advancement and a wish to provide the Los Alamos golf facility with the best playing conditions possible.
This is truly one of the highest certifications a golf course superintendent can earn. In one short year Allen’s efforts in creating better standards have enhanced playing conditions at the local golf course and makes it easier for those involved to sell golf in Los Alamos.
