Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard received the endorsement of Los Alamos Fighters Union IAFF Local #3279 in her run for re-election to the New Mexico State House, Dist. 43 in the Nov. 4 General Election.
“We proudly stand in support of Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard,” said Bert Quintana, president of the Los Alamos Firefighters Union. “Stephanie’s commitment to public safety has been unwavering and she has proven to be a strong champion for area firefighters.”
“I am proud to have this critical endorsement,” Garcia Richard said. “Our firefighters are our first responders and the role they play to protect our everyday safety as well as address fire concerns throughout the district, is vital.”
Garcia Richard went further, saying, “Los Alamos Fire Fighters face conditions unlike others in the state. As I’ve said in the past, they are our first responders not only to our community but also the Lab. They are unique in New Mexico and their special situation raises numerous other issues such as additional training, and health risk concerns. I have been and will continue to be a strong advocate for their safety and that of our community.”
Democrat Garcia Richard is a lifelong educator who has worked both abroad and in Northern New Mexico. She has represented Dist. 43 since the 2012 election and is running for reelection in a race against Republican challenger Geoff Rodgers. House Dist. 43 represents all of Los Alamos County and parts of Rio Arriba, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties.
