COMMUNITY News:

Bruce and Mary Burkheimer of Los Alamos were married April 20, 1947, in Burlington, Iowa.

They came to Los Alamos in 1953 and found it a wonderful place to raise their three children. They spent much of their time hiking and camping in beautiful Northern New Mexico.

Bruce worked as tech support for Los Alamos National Laboratory, creating the structural support for many scientific projects.

Upon retirement Bruce and Mary’s work ethics and ingenuity inspired them to independently build a beautiful home in the Laguna Vista Estates near Heron Lake where they’ve lived for the past 40 years.

Last year at the age of 94 they moved back to Los Alamos to live with their daughter and son-in-law Sally and Jack Fellers to have family support for Bruce’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

The Burkheimer’s contributions to the world include 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, with 1 great and 2 great greats on the way!

The Burkheimer, Fellers, Torrez, Manzanares, Sander, Call, Monroe and Douglas clans can all boast they have good genes and a strong, love filled foundation to build on!
