SUMMER CONCERT News:
The Los Alamos County Summer Concert Series presents the Austin, Texas King of Honky-tonk and tremendous outlaw country music star, Dale Watson at 7 p.m. today at Ashley Pond Park.
Even if you think you don’t like country, let me tell you about Dale Watson and the Lonestars. Dale’s been dubbed by the Austin Chronicle as the “silver pompadoured, baritone beltin’, Lone Star drinkin’, honky-tonk hellraiser.” He also plays rockabilly and Texas swing. He’s guested on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, “The David Letterman Show”, “Austin City Limits” and PBS’ “The Sun Sessions”. He’s a country music maverick, a true outlaw who stands alongside Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and George Strait as one of the finest country singers and songwriters from the Lone Star State. If you’re a fan of “Willie, Waylon and the boys,” or the late, all-time greats, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and George Jones, catch our free concert at Ashley Pond. This weekend is the Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo. The Concert Series portion of the Fair is the Dale Watson show. His baritone voice will remind you of Merle and George Jones. Dale is sponsored by Lonestar Beer and the Fender Guitar Co. That’s part of his personality along with funny, playful, lively and passionate. Dale’s a fine songwriter and performer. The only reason that he’s not a bigger star is because he’s stubbornly independent and only interested in authentic country music but he does have a fervently loyal fan base.
