Last week Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero attended the New Mexico Sheriffs Association Conference in Ruidoso.

Members had several meetings concerning upcoming legislation, advanced training and issues regarding the Office of the Sheriff. There were VIP’s in attendance including the National Sheriffs Association President Sheriff Danny Glick, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas and a surprise appearance by Gov. Susana Martinez.

Sheriff Lucero was able to bring up the ongoing concerns regarding the lack of majority support by the Los Alamos County Council in supporting the efforts of the elected sheriff in Los Alamos. Sheriff Glick voiced his support from the national level. AG Balderas has received the letter from Senators Cisneros and Martinez regarding the request for legal opinion on the Los Alamos Sheriff Office.

Sheriff Lucero has pledged his continued efforts to make the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Office more functional and professional, while working in cooperation with the Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies.
