COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County Parks Division would like to recognize and say thank you to five volunteers who spent their day on Saturday, Aug. 19 in Rendija Canyon cleaning up an area known to be used for target practice outside of the Sportsman’s Club as part of the 2023 Trail Cleanup and Maintenance Project efforts.
Volunteers June Fabryka-Martin, Craig Martin, David Hampton, Celeste Raffin and County staff liaison Jessica Morgan filled half a dumpster with trash, and two large buckets with glass, tile and bullet shells.
“This was a small team, but they worked hard and made a huge difference in the area,” Parks Superintendent Wendy Parker said. “We are thankful for these community members and their efforts to give back.”
The 2023 Trail Clean-up and Maintenance Project has targeted areas like Rendija Canyon in need of extra cleanup efforts, where volunteers can truly make a difference in the community. The next cleanup and maintenance day is Public Lands Day, Saturday, Sept. 23 for a trail maintenance project.
