The Los Alamos County Library Board’s July meeting featured an update from Library Manager Gwen Kalavaza on the Community Needs Assessment Survey, underway now through July 27 online and in paper form, to gather public input on service gaps, needs and future opportunities.

The anonymous survey can be completed online at polco.us/sve6zu. Respondents may also fill out a paper survey available at all library service desks. Community members had an opportunity to speak with Library Board members and library staff about the survey Friday at the Summer Concert at Ashley Pond Park. Community members may also email the Library Board at lb@lacnm.us with feedback or call the library for more information or assistance with the survey at 505.662.8250.

In this month’s Manager’s Report, the board was given an update on the EV fast charger installation at Mesa Public Library. The main vehicle access route and parking lot remains closed until paving activities are completed. Community members visiting the library can use the parking lots on the east side of the library near Fuller Lodge. Community members returning books can park on the east side of the library and walk the books to the drop-off bin.

The Library Board voted on a new Chair to take over from Beth Stelle, whose term on the board ends Aug. 31. Ryan Parker will be the new chair. We thank him for his willingness to serve in this capacity.
