The Los Alamos County Finance Department earned its 27th consecutive Government Finance Officers Association Award for its FY2019 Budget.

Los Alamos County Council recognized and commended the department’s efforts Tuesday night during the council meeting. 

County Chief Financial Officer Helen Perraglio gave special recognition to Budget and Performance Manager Karen Kendall as well as Senior Budget Analyst Maurica Chavarria-Quam.

Council Chair Sara Scott congratulated the Finance Department, saying the award really underscores its commitment and hard work.

Councilor David Izraelevitz thanked the Finance Department, adding that the department ensures the County is more efficient with its use of funds.

“The award represents a significant achievement by the entity. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” agenda documents state. “In order to receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.”
