Los Alamos County Business Recycler of the Year Nominations Close Thursday Oct. 17

COUNTY News:

Nominations close for the first annual Los Alamos County Business Recycler of the Year Award this Thursday, Oct. 17.

Send in your nominations today to Tom Nagawiecki at the Environmental Services Division at tom.nagawiecki@lacnm.us. Include the business name and a brief description explaining the nomination.

The award is sponsored by the Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division and the contest is open to Los Alamos County businesses of all sizes. Nominate your own business, your employer, or your favorite local sustainable retailer/restaurant.

Nominations opened Sept. 26 and nearly a dozen nominations have been received to date.

“We have received a great diversity of entries and narrowing it down to the top three is going to be a tough task,” said Tom Nagawiecki, Management Analyst of the Environmental Services Division.

Los Alamos County Environmental Sustainability Board and Environmental Services staff will judge entries and narrow them down to the top three finalists, who will be asked to provide further information about their recycling program. This information will then be published on the Environmental Services webpage and in the local media, and the public will vote to select the 2013 Los Alamos County Business Recycler of the Year. Voting officially opens Nov. 4 and closes Nov. 22. The winner will be announced at the Los Alamos County Chamber of Commerce Golden Anniversary Celebration Saturday, Nov. 30.

Los Alamos County recently lowered its rates for business recycling, if you are interested in setting up recycling at your local business, contact Tom Nagawiecki at 505.662.8383 or tom.nagawiecki@lacnm.us.
