Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) announced Thursday the opportunity to create the legacy you want for the community you love.
The Legacy Society recognizes those individuals who have chosen to leave a lasting charitable legacy in Los Alamos by including the LACF in their will, trust or estate plan.
The Legacy Society honors its individual members’ charitable passions while establishing its members as philanthropic role models.
We are grateful to include Paul and Sue Bombardt, Robert Gibson and Lori Heimdahl Gibson, David and Terry Izraelevitz and Gerry and Georgia Strickfaden among the initial legacy society members.
“We are honored that these farsighted benefactors have chosen LACF to help carry out their deep commitment to their community,” LACF Executive Director Rachel Kizielewicz said. “Estate planning is an impactful way for those who have lived in our community to provide for its future. By entrusting gifts to the Foundation, they ensure that their contributions will be used wisely to address future community needs and that their personal legacies will be extended far beyond their lifetimes.”
“Los Alamos has always been our home, and we have no plans to leave,” Legacy Society members Gerry and Georgia Strickfaden said. “We would like for any of our material worth to benefit New Mexico and Los Alamos, so we are very pleased that Los Alamos Community Foundation has come into existence to carry forward any worth we may have left at the end of our days. We are grateful for visionary folks who started Los Alamos Community Foundation.”
In addition to naming the Foundation as a beneficiary in your estate, participation in the Legacy Society can also be done through gifts of charitable gift annuities, trusts, insurance policies and various other kinds of planned giving instruments that can be executed with the help of a donor’s attorney.
“Many are surprised to learn how easy it is to create a lasting legacy that can preserve the family name, honor loved ones, support a favorite nonprofit, minimize tax burdens and support the community they call home,” Kizielewicz said. “Bequests to the Community Foundation are excluded from assets for estate tax purposes.”
